The one at the back looks to have a bit of Cornish/ Indian game about it.  Hard to tell from your pic  :)

More commonly known as (from front to back) Blackrock, Sussex and Bluebelle. All lovely hybrids though  :)

The White I would say more Amberlink or Amber star rather than sussex, it has no black on its collar.

that's the problem with these people who sell a lot, they give them their own names!

And your point is Teapots??  I wasn't saying anything against Merrydale.  In fact I have heard good things from others about her too!  All I meant was, when you get different people rearing the hybrids.  Although the hybrid is a particular colour, they can have many names according to who rears them.

One example is the Goldline brown hybrid!  It used to belong to ISA so was called a Goldline, now Hendrix Genetics took over ISA completely, although I believe they did own at least part of it before, but now the Goldline is called a Bovans Brown, but its the same chicken!

I agree with you GA, thats the problem and also with the blackrock chickens that name is copyrighted and only authorised breeders can call their birds by this name, others have to make up names like the copper black so people don't know what they are getting.
Staffies are softer than you think.

I haver a Black Rock and that front one does not look like mine.  My hen doesn't have the same shaped head as the one in the picture.  I also have a Light Sussex, and that bird in the picture doesn't have any black on it.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

just had a look a merrydales website and the snowball is definately not an amberlink as it lays white eggs so could be leghorn cross. The copperblack on their website has more copper on it and looks like my copperblack (but then again mine didn't come from an authorised breeder so it could have been his version either that or he bought it in  ::) )

And your point is Teapots??  I wasn't saying anything against Merrydale.

:( Now Annie  :tongue2: this is only me  please dont be defensive. I was kinda saying they were lovely birdies, and I love Karen, and she has had some rotten luck etc etc.  At NO POINT did I think you were being negative, honest  :(

I think the white egg laying hybrids are white star type? Lots of leghorn in there somewhere. They are prolific layers, can be a bit flighty, but I have 2 and love them to bits  :D
