just took on a plot n its got a fig tree,reading up seems like its a good idea to restrict the roots.Can I lift the tree?(whilst its young), whens the best time to do it?,how do I store lifted tree till re- plant?...ttfn U.

One way is to sink 4 paving slabs, vertically, around the plant to forma  "cube" of soil.  You could probably?? do that without removing the plant - although if the plant is small easier to have it out, make the paving-slab sides for root restriction, and then replace the fig plant in the middle.
