Epsom salts for fruit and veg

It's source of magnesium, which is a trace element lacking in some soils.

Raspberries and tomatoes seem to be the favourites to show the symptoms, which is usually a yellowing of the leaves between the veins, although it can appear in different ways too (Gurgle pictures of "magnesium deficiency plants.")

It is only a trace element though - a sackful is rather a lot and it certainly isn't a magic potion which should be heaped around the garden on everything! 

As you say, you can use it in the bath. Softens the water 

Every spring my roses get a good sprinkling around their bases as it really gives them a boost.

I also add epsom salts to my 'magic mix' for planting out veg which contains kelp, bonemeal, lime and several other ingredients. I find once a season is enough for the epsom salts.

If you have the big sack like I do, store it in a wheely bin with a lid or metal trash bin with a lid to keep it dry so it doesn't cake or harden on you. It's easily chipped off in chunks but easier if you offer some protection.
