Fuscias in Pots
« on: March 17, 2012, 08:05 »
I have several hardy Fuscias which have lived in the same outdoor pots for years with very little attention save cutting back when i see new signs of life.Just wondering if taking them out of the pots,if i can ,and trimming back some of the roots whilst still dormant is a good idea. Then perhaps repotting with J.I.No 2 or something similiar.

They do flower each year ,but not as prolific as years previous.Any one done this ?

They will certainly thank you for repotting, particularly if they are in multipurpose compost rather than John Innes.  If they will be in the pots permanently, I'd suggest JI #3.

I'm not sure about timing for root pruning though.

Any reason why they can't go in bigger pots?

Also, are you feeding them during the growing season?

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
