Flourescent lights

Howdi all,
Could I use a standard flourescent tube as a grow lamp? Just the herbs I've started I. The heated Propagator are starting to look a bit leggy through lack of light I think.

The wavelengths are all wrong. Go to a tropical fish shop and get a "Growlamp" tube which will be better.

"Growlux" tubes also emit the best wavelength.

Cheers,   Tony.

You will need to use T5 bulbs 6500k,  I use them plus 250w CFL's for my Chillis and pepper's.

Ok you seem to be getting all sorts of advice as you always do but probably still confused.. Looking at your post you just want to get your few plants to stop going leggy...

So you have 3 simple options.
1. put them on a windowsill with loads of light.
2. put silver foil behind them to reflect into them.
3. get a standard light fitting and hang a CFL lamp (as shown on my post above) over the plants and give them 18 hours a day light..
