Title: Does anyone have milled flax seed in their cupboard
Post by: Beetroot Queen on November 10, 2014, 15:30
I have failed to find it locally so would like to order online, but no-one knows if its nut free, I dont want to order and waste it. Does anyone have some, if so could you check and tell me who's make you have so I can source some that will actually get used.

Thanks

Flax seed isn't a nut, but I know someone who is allergic to nuts and flax, the latter largely because it is often packaged/processed in a factory where nuts are also processed.  I think that's the key thing to watch out for.  Holland and Barrett sell milled flax but it carries a packaging warning.

I searched for allergen free flax seed and this came up. There should be a section where you can "Ask a question about this product" somewhere on the page. You could post a question and see if anyone responds or see if you can contact the manufacturer directly. It's been rate by several people so maybe one of them could answer as to what the packaging actually says.

I know that here I can buy the seed or the meal and I've read somewhere that it's better to buy the seed and mill it yourself in a coffee grinder or similar.

Either way, hope that helps :)
