anyone any thoughts about why this is happening.  I think it's a bit early for the leaves to drop but was wondering if anyone else has had this.  I've given the pot a good watering as this may be the cause.  There are still some leaves left on and the fruit are intact.

Leaf drop is often a sign of stress, and in a pot watering is probably the most common cause of stress.

Has the pot dried out regularly over the last few months?

it is possible what with all the rain i've probably assumed it was getting enough.  Is there anything i should be doing.  I doubt it will put on any new growth now.

You could give it a liquid general purpose feed - seaweed or similar (not tomato fertiliser).

I think it's probably a bit late for slow-release fertiliser (though others may disagree).

Out of interest, what sort of compost is it in?
