Repairs to a plastic greenhouse?
« on: November 23, 2008, 17:49 »
Hello fellow gardeners!
My hubby bought me a small walk-in plastic covered greenhouse for my birthday in June and already the wind has battered it. It has been anchored to the ground so not blown away, but it has blown down twice now and the plastic bits the hold the aluminium poles together have been completely destroyed on the bottom layer and on 1 side at the 1st shelf level.
As you can imagine i am quite upset as i need it to grow seedlings etc in and they are now destroyed too! No pretty flowers in my garden this spring except for bulbs!!
What i would like to know is can you buy the spare plastic bits for keeping the poles together and the greenhouse upright and what are they called?
Where would i be able to buy them from?
I really hope someone can help me.

Many thanks Aelfryth xx

Hi aelfryth welcome to the forums  :D

I honestly don't know if you could buy spares, is it possible to get in contact with the supplier they may know or be able to give you an address of the manufacturer to write to and ask for some joints.
Alternatively if you still have the broken pieces would it be possible to rebuild them and glue the poles and joints together with some thing like a 2 part adhesive ??
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Not sure but my instinct would be to have a go with bamboo and wire. But I am a peasant.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Can you use some treated wood and screw it to the metal to strengthen it?
Cheese makes everything better.

I bought one of these greenhouses a couple of years ago.It was the last one they had in stock so i bartered them down to a silly price. It was rather damaged-the poles of the frame were smashed and my OH looked at me like i was a mug,but lots of waterproof tape later and a bit of swapping things around(weaker poles at the top, stronger at the bottom) ,it is still standing now and in good use
