i have just received a telephone call today from brooks animals sanctuary in northants.  They are looking to rehome 400 18 month old ex battery hens.
I taking 30, just thought i would let you all know incase anybody is looking for more hens

           Thanks for the tip, reference Brook Farm, been there today and got five. lovely place, I'm now on a crusade to get all the allotment holders who have chickens to take on rescue birds. Settling in fine, just sorting out the pecking order. Thanks again. Gary

glad i could help, we went last friday with the intention of getting 30 hens, we came back with 40 hens, 3 geese and a dog  :shock:

Apparently they say they take in ex-batts on a regular basis.
