Shallots

I bought Autumn planting Onions & Shallots from T &M.
Onion: First Early
Shallot: Eschallote Grise
Planted on the 4th October, by 25th October onions began to show green shoots.
The shallots on the other hand are exactly as I planted them. I have never grown autumn planted varieties before, so is this normal ?
I am reluctant to pull one out to see if roots are formed.

Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and be suspected of knowing nothing than opening it and proving it.

Give them chance, you might not see anything for weeks yet.

In that case you will never know. You could dig down one side without pulling the plant out.

Tom,

I planted my winter onions and garlic 4 or 5 weeks ago and none of them are showing yet.

The garlic is taking root now but the onions aren't really doing much, not that I'm too worried yet.

My plot neighbour planted Sprint garlic and her shoots are showing at about 3" high now

Joy.
Several of my shallots planted on Oct. 4th are showing green shoots.  With all the rain they might be coming up for air.
