Half way down the row now & came across this. (The parsnip, not the daughter).
4lb 5 oz, 16" long 17" circumference.
Should do a few Sunday Dinners!

very impressive!! just out of interest do you peel them or just cook them with the skin on?
-
Peel them AND core them - especially this size - just to leave the tender bits.
-
yes i always peel them but my mum doesn't, i dont like it personally so dont know which taste best, mind you never heard my lot complain about either so i guess they are not bothered either way
-
We've had the core/don't core debate - looks like we may start the peel/don't peel one now!
-
I used to peel bought parsnips - they were tough on the outside. Storage? Travel? variety? dont know. But I just scrub the ones we grow, the skin is nice and tender. Likewise the core - often woody and tough in bought ones. Fresh from the ground, not a problem. :)
Not that they get to 4lbs weight! Thats wow!, giant veg standard!

You've seen one already! All the rest are now cut up and frozen, apart from a few left in the ground. But I bet I cant beat your parsnip in a million years!
