Post by: brianc on July 16, 2014, 21:06
Hi all
Picked a load of red currants today ,my question is can you put them pie or flan ?
I have used black currants like this .
       Silly question single male.

Yes you can. Personally I find them a little pippier than blackcurrants.

I tend to sieve them and use them in mousse, sorbet or icecream.

Or as part of the fruit for a summer pud.

Redcurrants are my new favourite berry. Wonder if you could do crumble with them.

They're beautiful just raw with cream. Especially mixed with other fresh fruit.

Yes! Each berry is a little pool of tartness in the sweetness of a fruit salad, lovely!

I've done a summer pudding mix of berries as a crumble before, including redcurrants.  That was pretty good  :D
