I have a few hens with leg mites. Whats the best way to get rid of them and how long til the scales go down? Any other information about mites I would love to know. Thanks,

We dipped the legs in oil (veg or olive)you can use a paint brush to paint it on  or you can rub on vaseline ,do this every day for 2 weeks to smother the mites..........the scales take a long long time to go down and in some cases they never do

I tried vaseline on Minnie but not very easy as she has feathered legs and got really messy. I am now trying 'Barrier Scaley Leg' and treating all the hens. We managed to make a mess with that too but will persevere and get better at it. Minnie's legs look quite bad on close inspection so will now keep a very careful watch.
