Title: new freezer

New freezer coming thursday its going in the shed , the powers all there waiting can't  wait .

If the shed is unheated, have you bought a freezer that is rated for low ambient temperatures?

I was just looking into this today and found the large majority of freezers have +10C as their minimum operating temp, below which there is a risk of the compressor freezing and stopping. There are specific coolants used in freezers that have lower minimum temps.

Yes he checked it out and its sutable for garages and sheds , and we lined our shed with boards for extra insulation as i put some plants in there over winter .

We've had freezers in our unheated garage for 13 years, apart from the one that died of old age, the others are fine.

Just think Chrissie, MORE room to freeze MORE lovely veg and stuff!   ;) ;)

Can't wait ive got some where to put my icecream bowl , i had so many gooseberrys and have so much jam i did chutney instead still got loads so gave away 2 of my bushes im going to replace with something else..

I believe it is generally recommend to put shed/ garage freezers on 4 concrete blocks to get a bit of an airspace from a possibly damp floor.
The freezer hopefully will last a few years longer . :)

Its here and hS now stood for 2 hours to let the gas settle just waiti g for it to freeze up a bit till i start sorting my other stuff and defrosting my inside freezer , the delivery guy said to leave the bottom polystyrene  packing on the botton so we have done that .

Its all full up down there in the shed and a have loads of space in the house freezers i can open draws with no effort and dont need to struggle to get the stuff out its great.
