Title: Progress in the bird world...
Post by: Mulberry1990 on August 02, 2011, 07:41
Lots of things are changing and I just wanted to share!!!
Last night all eight of my chickens slept in the same coop for the first time!!!! They've been free ranging together for two months and we finally decided it was time for them to take the plunge.
I got them all in, there was a bit of squawking from Dior who was less than pleased to not be in her own bed! But other than that the only noise was them shuffling around trying to decide where to plonk themselves down!

All my chicks are now laying apart from Bobbi (cream legbar) and on sunday 6 of the hens decided all to lay at the same time (Fendi our old hen only lays a couple of days a week but she's adorable so can be forgiven!), and all of my quail laid, so we got the most eggs we've ever had!

Finally, my aviary that was ordered in January and that has been no end of trouble, will finally be finished today!!!!! So my Quail can finally move house! I even learnt how to rehang a door, bevel edges, fit a hexagonal roof and install locks and bolts in the process of erecting the aviary! Today I will learn how to do beading to finish it off!

Oooo also... IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!! Is 21 officially old...?

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!! Glad your ladies have finally settled and your quails have a  fab new home.

And 21 is certainly not old - it's the start of life's long journey, full of adventures and surprises ...... and more chickens of course!
