Revolting Slugs
« on: May 09, 2016, 16:51 »
I was empyting out a dead fern in a pot to replant, and there they were, a horrid green colour about 1 and 1/2 inches long, quite fat, and with black speckles on them.  I have to admit that I chopped them in half, and they still went on crawling away, so they got the salt treatment.
Are these the new super slugs that have been in the Daily Mail?  I didn't read it or look because a quick glance was enough,  urrrrgh.   Mrs Bouquet

I just had a quick look and if your slugs are leopard slugs then they only eat rotting vegitation and they eat other slugs so they are no harm and they grow to 16 cm.

Leopald Slugs,  I am surprised as I am normally very vigilant about rotting stuff in the garden, still they were under a very damp pot.   I shall try !! to regard them as friends  !!! if I get anymore, thank for your trouble in identifying them for me.  regards,  Mrs Bouquet
