Dwarf French beans

Could you advise if one can save some of the beans for replanting next year as can be done
with Runner beans..
Also, are there other vegetables where the seed of this years crop can be kept as next years seed?

Thanks

peas are easy as well, though I doubt there are any still about to save  :( tomatoes and peppers.

The trouble with most of the others is that they cross-pollinate so easily that you wouldn't know what you were going to get the next year :(

The main issue is whether saved seeds will breed true next year.

As a general rule, F1 seeds will never breed true the following year (from grown and saved seeds), peas normally will, french and runner beans should do but a lot is down to luck and location because you have no control over the previous whereabouts of visiting bees!

Some types of plants are far more promiscuous than others; cucurbits would happily mate with your dog given half a chance, whereas some humbler crops, like rocket, are much less likely to.

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Probably depends on how much you fancy a family of butternut bulldog squashes!
