Title: cabbage seedlings
Post by: goddards on April 24, 2009, 14:14
hello

i need some advice please a bit new to all this vegetable growing!

i planted some cabbage seedlings in trays in my cold frame end of feb but im wondering when i should plant them out? it says that the cabbages should be ready to eat in the summer but the other thing is i didnt do a very good job of thinning them in fact they are only about 1.5cms apart in the trays? am i best to seperate them now then repot them or do you think i should just seperate them and plant them straight out? each plant has at least 4 leaves!
thanks

Firstly welcome to the fourms.

I'd pop them into 3" pots & grown on to about 6" height. Given room they'll soon make the growth.

You can get a clump out & swish them in some water to rinse the soil off, then tease the roots apart.

I sow mine in seed tray inserts, one seed to a cell, then the whole lot comes out, compost and all when potting on.
