you can get an electronic ignition module for it on ebay for around £5.
But before doing that, what air gap have you got there?
The air gap is the distance between the two legs of the coil and the revolving flywheel. I cant remember what the gap should be ( and I haven't got my book here with me), but you should be able to get that info off the net ( its about the same as as the thickness of  the cardboard from a cereal packet-ish)
It does sound like an air gap fault or a dodgy coil, presuming that the points gap has been set correctly, and the new points have been "dressed" and so on.....

Gwiz,

Thanks for the great advice - I loosened the coil bolts placed some thin cardboard (torn off an old cereal packet, as advised) between the coil and the flywheel, rotated the flywheel until the magnet pulled the coil in tight. Tightened down the coil bolts and then re-dressed and gapped the points (just in case) oh - and removed the cardboard!

Fourth pull of the starter cord and it was thumping away happily!

I would never have thought to look at the coil, I guess someone in the past must have had a good old fiddle with it and adjusted the position.

Anyway - running well now!

Thanks to your advice.

Cheers
Jon
