Treating red mite
« on: June 12, 2007, 08:09 »
My chickens only arrived last week and are doing really well. They don't have red mite - yet  but I want to treat them to prevent the problem arising. I sorted a sand bath for them but they have shown no interest in it and would much rather bathe in the grass cuttings  My question is - where do you apply the red mite powder? To the whole of their body or to the neck like frontline or to the soft fluffy feathers where it's easiest for the red critters to get to their skin!!! Any advice gladly recieved.

Sue and the girls - Tilly, Lily, Poppy, Sarah, Beth and Cup

For red mite you have to treat the chooks accommodation rather than the birds.  See our sticky External Parasites   :D
