Title: Campbell duck egg laying
Post by: eve111 on July 30, 2008, 12:05
Can anyone give me any advise on my ducks.
My 2 white campbells started laying 2 months ago.
the first lays religiously every day, even though the eggs have got smaller, the second duck laying is very intermitant.
I have tried letting them out later in the morning which worked occasionally, but now she hasnt laid for nearly a week.
they are both healthy, eating and going about their daily duck routine.
Any suggestions ?

My white campbells are all moulting at the moment and that has put them right off laying. Haven't had an egg in almost a week  . That being said they are about 18 months old and did need a moult. 3 of my others are also moulting including the boys so obviously the time for it.
Mine have had the occasional off period that I haven't always been able to come up with a reason for. Have they been wormed recently? Had any recent stresses? What do they eat, are they on a good layers pellet?

Hi there
Thanks for your reply.
Mine moulted quite a while a go, so dont think that is the problem.
There has been no stress that I know of, but havnt been wormed lately so will try that to start.
They are on good layers pellets and wheat, any suggestions?
Thanks for the advise.
Im new to the duck world so learning as I go.
Eve

Not really sure what else to suggest. Would worm them but other than than would just keep an eye on them if they are healthy and happy. Mine moult twice a year. The other thing that can slow them down laying is if they are overweight.
