Title: Lavender
Post by: Pony Girl on March 20, 2013, 08:12
Is it too early to plant out lavender?

I was thinking of getting some from the garden centre this weekend but don't know if it's too cold?

I'm am located in Hastings, East Sussex.

If they are being grown outdoors at the GC they should be OK to plant out as they are pretty hardy plants, although it's never a great idea to plant anything out if weather and soil conditions are particularly unfavourable, and the early suggestions are that this weekend will be just that, although it might not be as bad where you are.

Nothing to stop you buying them though, although if they are under cover at the GC they will need similar protection before acclimatising to outdoor conditions and planting out in their final positions.
