You know the standard bags that Ikea seemed to stuff things in for years.

Do you reckon I'd be alright to put some holes in bottom for drainage and use them for growing lettuce or do you think that they would flop too much under the weight of damp compost?

I have a few of these and they are immensely useful at the allotment, but I think that, unsupported, that the sides would fall down.

Perhaps if you filled a few and put them side by side they might support each other but you'd need something to support the open ends.

I've actually already solved the spot for potatoes thanks but it's an idea to remember.

But the idea of using them in a line with some support at the open ends is an interesting suggestion. I'm mulling it over. It could be the basis of a very good idea.  Thank you.
