Trailing petunias

I have not grown these for a long time, due to mould.    Are new varieties more resistant, or do you know of a way to put these into hanging baskets and not get mould !  ?   Thank you,  Mrs Bouquet

 I don't know what variety you where growing because we had no problems with our petunia in hanging baskets and we make around 20 baskets a year we do our baskets with  a basket liner MP compost some wetting agent and a slow release food just had this years petunia plugs delivered the variety Fanfare rose rim I know the weather can make a difference to petunias but as I said we haven't had any probs

so get a good variety and give it another go good luck RW

Yes, I buy trailing petunia plugs at around £17 for 170 from Jersey Plants and grow them on in greenhouse before planting them  in baskets/troughs etc and have never had a hint of mould

Right Guys, thanks for your replies, I shall have to buy my plugs from a different source, and watch out for mildew and black fly as well.   Mrs Bouquet

I got a selection of different-coloured and scented ones from there. They arrived very well packed and in one of those clear plastic root-trainer jobbies which had a label on both sides to tell you what colour each plant was and they looked to be good quality too. I duly potted them up into one of those compartmental trays and they're looking still as good if not better!
