Re-potting the cacti is long overdue.

I can’t find any cactus compost in the shops, and anyway it’s probably cheaper to make my own.

I plan to make [by volume]

2 parts sterilised topsoil
1 part fine peat
1 part sharp sand
A dash of bone meal.

Has anyone any thoughts on the suitability of this mix?

It is not usual to add peat or fertiliser to cactus mixes

I always use John Innes 3 (sterilised top soil would be fine) for half of the mix by volume, roughly, and fine grit. Did use perlite once but it blew about a lot when I was trying to mix it in.

A top dressing of grit or small stone chippings and that's all
