I was given a small passion flower vine for my birthday last week and I've planted it on a south facing wall.  Does anyone have any tips for growing these?  It's putting out a tiny string to wrap around the down spout.

Not a plant tip but growing plants in the ground next to downpipes and soak aways is asking  for trouble later on
Roots love to get in to the pipework and block it.

I agree with 8doubles' comment about being careful where you plant your passiflora, as it can grow pretty big 
 
With a bit of forethought about supporting it, and knowing you can cut it back quite hard when needed, you can have a lovely addition to your garden
