how to store green beans

does anybody have any suggestions for storing green beans,whole if preferable,rather than just sticking them in the freezer?

Trillium, what is this 'canning salt' how is it different from ordinary salt? I've not noticed it in the UK ..........other than that difficulty it looks a good thing to try :)

It's a coarser type of salt more often called pickling salt. Kosher salt is a good substitute. What you want is a salt with more flavour and less refining than standard table salt.
