Title: Question about Globe Artichoke
Post by: julietmaria on May 21, 2008, 23:27
I have an artichoke plant, this is it's 3rd year.  The first year I got no globes, I might have even planted it in the Autumn.  Last year I got a globe and had read that you should cut this bulb off, I did this but then my plant got attacked by black fly and we went away and it suffered from not being watered.  This year it seems to be doing ok, and I have just spotted a small globe, what should I do?  Should I cut this one off?

Thanks, in anticipation of all your great advice and knowledge.

It's normal not to do much in first year if planted in the autumn.

I wonder how it dried out last season, have you got it in a pot?

These are rather large plants and usually trouble free, let the bud to grow, size will very with variety and growing conditions, you harvest before opening.
