i am looking for a rotavator i have 1/4 acre of land i have been told to get a Howard but they all seem to be old any recomendations from the more knowledgable guys

whats the difference between a tiller and a rotavator, mabye i should have added the 1/4 acre i have hasnt been touched in 6 years but is light soil though covered in grass now

I'm not sure about which type of rotavator , but I'd get a spray of glyphosphate (Roundup)on as soon as green shoots appear. Don't rotovate  until you've killed all the grass.

I have spent so much money on Roundup i am invited to the Christmas partys now pity its not touched the grass in fact when i walk up with the packet i can hear the grass laughing

Tillers don't dig so deep, put simply.
I have a Merry tiller which is, in my opinion, a rotovator, and a small Ryobi tiller for breaking up the top 3-4 inches of soil.

It makes a huge difference on a Merry Tiller exactly how much power you have. Ive thrown out the 3.5 hp briggs engine and replaced it with a new Honda 6.5 hp and it will just bury itself then zoom along  like Bug Bunny going underground in the cartoons.
