I have two Aylesbury ducks, about 1 year old I think. (They were presents so  not entirely sure) One was slow to lay which I put down to being young - she still had some brownish feathers when I got her - the other started laying good -sized eggs fairly quickly. The younger one initially laid very (!) small eggs but then started laying normally too. However, recently neither laid for about a week and now I'm back to getting one teeny egg with no yolk! What's the problem? They seem happy and healthy otherwise. Help!

Aylesbury ducks aren't one of the most prolific of layers anyway Anything from 35- 125 a year

What are they being fed? Have you changed their feed recently?
Various changes to day to day life  can alter egg production such as change of food, not having any water, parasites etc...
What time of day are you letting them out? Do they have access to water over night?

It could of course just be taking them a bit to get in to the swing of laying

Thanks for reply. I knew not to expect a great number of eggs so I'm not worried if no eggs is a natural state of affairs. What did worry me was the teeny wee ones without yolks.... Is that natural too?

Really does sound as if they are practicing before getting into the full swing of things
