Zinc planters
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:53 »
Dont know if this is any use to anyone but my local homebase were selling zinc planter troughs reduced from £20 to £3!

As I do most of my growing in pots and containers we got 5 as they are a great size and could well be my new onion and garlic homes!

They look brilliant.  Just checked stock and there are 75 available at my local store so hoping to head down there tomorrow to pick some up.  Thanks for the hint.

thanks for this.....my nearest store has 30 left so hopefully there will be some left a tthe weekend....but will have to travel about 40 miles to get the big planters. In view of all the snow coming again...might not be worth it in terms of stress !!!Hopefully there will be some left later when the roads aren't so icy.

I'm definitely going to buy myself some and perhaps get a few as presents.

I picked up a couple of tall planters at three pounds each (they'll do nicely to force early potatoes in), but I thought the long-sided troughs were very flimsy.

Where abouts in the stores are they?  I had a quick look today but the outside area (where I thought they would be) was closed because of the snow.

Please no one tell me they are inside!!

went for 10 of the larger black metal troughs myself. The others in my store were bent and rusty. I found these by the front door in a clearance section.

Top Tip, they look excellent - my nearest store has 36 in stock!  Guess where I'm going?  :tongue2:
Are we nearly there yet?

I got 3 of the long black ones. Agree that the silver ones looked a bit dishevelled but black ones look fine and from £19.99 to £2.98 what a bargain - thanks for flagging it up!
