Hi, i moved into our house about a year ago. There is a very large willow tree at the bottom of the garden and underneath is an area that had previously been a childrens play area with bark and such on the ground. The willow is also flanked by large conifers at the back. The ground is moist but well drained. I would really like to put the area under the tree back to lawn. Do you think that a shade tolerating grass would be ok under there? It does get some sunlight but calling it "dappled" would be generous.
I would be really interested to hear what you all think and if you have had any experience of this.
Thanks

Willow and conifers :( not a good combination for a lawn. dont know if there is a variety that can stand that much shade have a look in Google.

I think you might be pushing your luck, and should consider why it was planted like that. It maybe that privacy was an issue, or that it was always a low water area. Perhaps you might consider instead of lawn having a beautiful area of shade loving plants that would be quite special.Sorry , I didn't really want to give you a dismal answer, just trying to work out the logistics here.
