Well after Mr fox got the other ladies here are the new ones collected this morning two bovans goldline one amber and one nera (plymouth/rhode cross) so i'm told. have put weld mesh all around the big run the eglu is within and we have got hold of an electric fence energizer just need the other bits hopfully that should keep them safe.

I can't believe it - i'm picking up the same birds amber star, Bovans Nera
and a goldline but not for tow weeks. I wonder what is your set up as I'm nervous about them having enough room in the run with my bantams when i'm out.

Hi mumof4 we have an eglu with its standard run but this is inside another run that is 18 feet by 15feet so we can let them out in to the large run during the day.

Oh, so my run is quite a bit smaller then, the chap on the phone did say it was plenty big enough as we would be letting out for a few hours each day. I wish i could have made the run bigger but our garden slopes upwards so it was put on the area that was level at the top.

We're on a slope too as on a hillside. works fine with a bigger area for a run though. i have the house at the highest part and a ladder down.

Congrats on the new girls! my two are either Bovan Nera's or Maran's lol not 100% sure, but look like both as they are close in colouring. Mine have a green sheen to their black feathers, one is a lot more coloured around the neck than the other.

Anyway.. one of the breeds has dark egg - so guess time will tell!

Hope the improved security keeps the chooks safe.
