sprouting potatoes

my neighbour has a lot of potatoes which are all sprouting !!!!
he offered them to me to boil for my hens. i would like to know
if its worth planting them ?
your advise please ... :unsure:

If you don't use certified seed potatoes, you run a far higher risk of introducing diseases to your soil. They will grow, albeit they are very late an will run a higher risk of getting blight before maturity. 

At the end of the day, it's on you own head!

As DD says, you do risk introducing diseases into your plot soil, but if they are stored main crop ones, I don't think you have enough summer left now to get anything worthwhile tbh. 

I know it is not the question you were asking, but my hens love boiled potatoes, so maybe some free chuck food and some happy hens could be the best use of them.
