Silkies
« on: May 03, 2010, 13:03 »
I have two silkies, both around 17 weeks, and we have started getting a little egg every day for the past week. I have 6 other hybrid layers with them as well, but do not know whether the little eggs come from another hen just laying small eggs, or whether the silkies have started laying?
I thought that hens started to lay at about 21 weeks, but do not know if it varies between breeds?
Any theories helpful!

hens can start to lay anytime from 16 weeks through to + 35. All hens generally lay small eggs to start off whilst they are pullets and then get bigger the older they get.
Staffies are softer than you think.
