Plant aubergines now?

GQT were burbling about planting aubergines now? How can this be?

Most varieties need a long growing season, but you need the heat and light to facilitate this.

I'm not rushing mine, yet.

I've got one in the greenhouse that looks a bit ill, but it ain't finished yet. Was pondering on nipping out the top and waiting for the consequences, anyone successfully overwintered an Aub before?

It`s a bit early unless you`ve got a heated greenhouse.I will start mine in a heated propagator on a window sill in the middle of Feb.Last year the ones that did OK were the small variety and the ones I `mulched`with tin foil so I will sow Black beauty and calliope again this year just incase the summer is lousy again.
