I have collected a number of double glazed units from old windows.

Is there any advantage or disadvantage in building the cold frames I want with the double glazing intact, or should I split the units and use them singly?

I thought keeping them double would help to insulate in colder weather?

Have you tried splitting the units before?  my Brian has tried it, but the glass breaks!

Old glass can be brittle - splitting would probably be more trouble than its worth.

Also had this problem with aluminium frames. Too heavy in frame but too flimsy once removed. Now use spare polytunnel plastic on a frame for the lid which works fine.
