Two lame chickens
« on: June 12, 2016, 19:23 »
Hi,
The other day I noticed one of my chickens walking a little funny which has now turned into a real limp. Been like it for 3 days now. Eating and drinking as normal tho. But just now I've noticed another one going lame.
Any advice??
Thank you

I have a lame one at the moment as well.  I think she jumped down from the shelf in their run and landed heavily as I can't find anything wrong with her, other than a limp and she doesn't mind me handling the leg.  Well she does, but just because she objects to being picked up, rather that flinching or showing any signs of pain.

Mine also started with a real limp and is now getting better.

Going from walking funny to a limp and more than one showing the same signs is a concern though.  Get hold of them and check for bumblefoot.  This can be caused by the type of perches you are using.  Also check for any swellings or hotness on the legs.  This can indicate infection.  Both will require anti-bios and a trip to the vet.

Let us know how you get on  :)
