  Ihave noticed small ,very tiny beasties in hens' nest boxes & on eggs...they arent red so dont think they have red mite. Daughter thinks it may be harvest mite as surrounded by fields. Anyone help? Thanks

If they are harvesting around you they are probably thrips, in Yorkshire known as thunderbugs. They are completely harmless. Do keep an eye in case this is not right!

There seems to be lots of thunderbugs about around here as well and we are in the middle of a city!!

Unusual in built up areas but probably blown in by the wind
