If you need any advice foxy then just ask - correct feed, housing and friends for her (they are social creatures so eventually she will need a couple of friends).
She may have wandered too far (mine wander outside my gate and down the bridleway) or could have been dumped if she has come to the end of her laying cycle  :(
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thanks for all the replies and offers of advice.
After lots of asking around and trawling my allotment site, she is now back home with her sisters. I'm happy she is back home but was sad to see her go, i was getting used to her trashing my kitchen!  :D
On a plus side whilst chatting with the lovely chap she owns  :tongue2: i now have the contact details for a guy who breeds the hens i want, he is on my allotment site too! YaaaaaaY  :D

I thought i'd made my mind up and was definatly getting barred plymouth rocks, but now i'm thinking silver laced wyandotte, i'm trying not to look too much now so i don't keep changing my mind.
What do you think about silver laced wyandotte for a first time keeper?
Not sure how many at the moment but no less than six. The other half is building the coop but i keep changing the plans so as soon as i settle on the design it will be built within a couple of days!
I'm soooooo excited!

I'm so glad that there's a happy ending to this!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Well done finding the man who is owned by the chicken, foxi loxi.  :)

Around here, Silver Laced Wyandottes have a tendency to be very broody - much more than Barred Plymouth Rocks.  It would pay to ask around people who have hens from the same breeder as different strains of the same breed can have different habits.  If your breeder has a non-broody strain then that's great.  I think they are very beautiful birds.

why not start with 3 point of lays then in another year or two get another 3, this will help with the continued production of eggs over the winter  :).
Also choose whichever you like the look of either by their feather markings and colour or by their egg colour  :)

Why not look at a mixture of breeds then its an "and" situation, rather than "or"!!

Are you feeling ok Joyfull only suggesting the getting of 3 chickens?  I thought we'd established that there is no such thing as too many chickens...   ;)

Foxi loxi, I'm really glad that your story had a happy ending, the owner must have been so happy to have got his beauty back.
