my new generator diesel engine/toy
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:53 »
tthis is coming my way off a well known auction site, Lister Petter single cylinder diesel with 110/240v outputs, 2.5kVA, not sure of the exact model but someone in the stationary engine world will know... I'll never worry about my cheapo cordless drill running out of juice again whilst I'm up the allotment...

mrs amc has drawn the line at a truly vintage version and steam rallies, strange that, thought our 4 month old dtr would love it :)

i'll update with pics when it arrives on a pallet. amc

Cheers alfie,

Hope the June "Chester Vintage" meet goes well and you've not had to sell the Rover. amc

That is a great looking genny. I like that fact it's got wheels!
And as a diesel, it'll probably run for hours in a smell of derv!

Cheers Gwiz. Took ur advice on converting the honda water pump to a genny - don't bother you suugested in the politest terms, so hence the above...

The reason its got wheels is that its going to be v.heavy, not sure but maybe 70kgs plus. My OH thinks its going to live at the allotment but will I be able to resist having 5 mins listening to that low rpm diesel thwack, thwack at home? ;)

Should be cheap to run - red derv is perfectly legal for this :)

Heres me starting it on youtube GrainyVision:

if you ask nicely gwiz you can have a play with it :)

Its a Petter AA1, 3000rpm, 3hp, manufactured sometime between 1964 - 1992, looking at the phone number on the "allam" generator i'd guess mid-late 80's.
