Does anyone know where Frisbee lettuce have gone ??

I used to love growing Frisbee,or Frisby lettuce.

It was a loose leaf type but very densley packed and would tollerate a hot dry spell too.

It suddenly dissapeared from the seed catalogues and nothing I've found since comes close.

Does anyone know if it's still available anywhere ?   :D

Was that the actual name or do you mean Frisee lettuce, a fine leaved type? the latter is usually available through the Italian seed suppliers

Hi,

The variety was "frisby" it would have been similar to Frisee types but it wasn't as limp it was more succulent.

I know what you mean about "frisee"but this variety was extremely dense and tightly packed unlike the other loose leafed types and had an almost crunchy texture.

It was as if they'd crossed a " lollo rosso" with a little gem's texture and made it green.

Tesco have probably bought it and discontinued it,as I have bought similar from Supermarkets at ridiculous prices.

Looks like theyre the only ones who have it

i know that garden centre well it used to belong to the company i was nursery manager for and i used to grow all the plants for it before plant and harvest took it over
Everyone should grow their own veg and know where their food is coming from even if it is only a one pot on a patio or balcony Grow Something!!
