Picture entitled 'In the Bleak Midwinter'
I took this in the depths of winter, December 2010, close to home. We don't often get snow, being near the coast, but this was 'A good ol' packet of snow' as my Granny used to say :)
(http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff221/Aunt__Sally/Comp%2020/aelf_zps03ad07ac.jpg)
It was an eerliy quiet and beautiful afternoon and whilst I took the photo I was, appropriately, humming 'In the Bleak Midwinter' by Christina Rossetti (1872):
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
It was one of those rare, spritually uplifting moments :)

I've got nothing from this winter as yet as it seems to have been universally wet, but this is my favourite snow picture from a couple of years ago.
It shows Arnie my agave as a snow flower. Sadly the contrast of desert plant and snow was not a happy mix and he gave up the ghost after this but I have 2 offshoots which are just as evil and spikey :D

I spotted this little bird while on a snowy walk with my dogs, after a big snowfall a couple of years ago.

Silence is Golden.
What I like about the snow is that every sound seems muted. The A52 is always quieter when its snowing. This was taken from my front door a few minutes ago!

There was a flash of colour, and Old Growster looked up to the sky, and the January sun caught the ice crystals on the leaves of the hedge, and they glittered in the new morning light.
The lazy, chilly breeze intensified the kaleidoscope of nature’s jewels, which twinkled and swirled for several glorious minutes.
