Oca tasting results
« on: January 17, 2013, 09:56 »
I know this has been discussed a bit in GYO, but I'm a new grower to this last year and have a small crop to eat, after putting some aside for growing this year.  Recipe ideas are going to get lost in growing info and advice if we don't file them here.

They are good raw - getting a bit addicted to munching them that way, but apart from the generic coat with oil and roast, has anyone tried anything else that we can all use as a reference.

I've done stir fry with garlic, ginger, spring onion, greens and chicken, seasoned with soy sauce.  It was very nice.  The oca were crispy a bit like a water chestnut, but with a lemony  flavour and texture all of their own  :)  If I did it again, I would add cashews  :)

I've just ordered 10 tubers, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too.

We eat lots of stir-fry, so sound like they should be ideal for that.

Would they be good as a gratin or rosti?
