using up older runner beans

Hi everyone,

I have about 5lbs of large runner beans that are a little tough for serving as normal vegetable and i would like to hear any idea's you may have to make use of them.

I have used mine to make runner bean chutney. I will let you know in about a month what they're like  :D

I have found that once the thick cellulose coat develops in the pods, I cannot seem to do anything that will soften this to eat.

The beans on their own are good though, like suzie said  :D

I cooked a few that looked a bit fat, but still edible, and the skin was like eating razor blades, despite cooking for longer  :( So that's the end of them for this year :(

I agree, once they've gone past their best its not worth the effort trying to use them.  They are like Mum said, eating razor blades.  :blink:

What i do is  break them up a bit, whizz them in the magi mix and give them to the hens, who seem to love them razor blades an'all  :lol:
