Title: Can you chit supermarket potatoes?
Post by: John on February 03, 2019, 02:39
I was asked, “Can you chit supermarket potatoes or do you need to buy special seed potatoes and what is the difference please?” So I wrote up my 'yes and no' answer into an article.

Can you chit supermarket potatoes? (https://www.allotment-garden.org/vegetable/potatoes/can-you-chit-supermarket-potatoes/) in How to Grow Potatoes (https://www.allotment-garden.org/vegetable/potatoes/)

The first year we had our plot, we planted up around a quarter of it with a bag of supermarket spuds, not knowing the possible downsides of using these: we had an amazing crop of decent sized potatoes, but I have to say that the varieties we now choose to grow, as well as being disease free, are much more tasty  :D :D
