Lice
« on: July 24, 2011, 09:28 »
Well I think our chickens have had everything, then I discover lice!

We lost one last week after a prolapse, they have just (yesterday) finished a 10 day course of Baytril for respiratory problems (possibly myco), plus they have just finished a course of Flubenvet for worms.

Then this morning I found a small pile of feathers on the floor. They are the little fluffy ones from the rear. I thought initially one of them was starting to moult, but there were no feathers in the sleeping house, which is where I normally start to see dropped feathers when they moult.

Anyway I picked the feathers up to see which chicken they are from, and they definitely have lice on them. I have some frontline to treat them with, but will it be too much for their systems after all the other medication?

Any help would be appreciated.
