What is on your final warning this year?

Mine is aubergines. If they don't perform that is it! Never again!

I think it will be brassicas for me, though I'm gonna try and miss the butterfly season by picking young & early!

Last year was the worst results in 14 years of GYO so can't be too demanding for this year but for me it is groundnuts. been trying for last 3 years each time getting a little bit further but no fully grown plants or hint of nuts.

What variety did you grow? I grew them for the first time last year and they were awesome. Probably beginners luck and it will be walnuts for me this year The variety I sowed were Asterix F1 bought from Kings Seed.

I have tried several varieties, Monarch, Giant Prague and Balder, all to no avail!

Butternut squash. Mine are always disappointingly small. Maybe it’s because I don’t devote enough space to the plants. One of my neighbours basically just does squashes, and they are huge.

Stem Broccoli for me, never get any results at all. Just bushy horrible plants with nothing on them. I give up !

Is it a pH issue Bobby’s. Don’t know about your area for wales but when hiking in Pembrokeshire I noticed the soil was quite acidic. Could you try adding lime to the soil?

Thanks Missmoneypenny, I'll try measuring the ph, I have a ph meter, not sure how accurate it is though ! Should give me some indication at least. Pretty sure it's not acidic, OP seem to be able to grow it, not many, but some.

Scallions and other onions grown from seed.  At least until I have time to figure out why the germination is so poor (maybe try again after retirement).

I'm still planting my 'zombie scallions', essentially re-growing scallions that have gone yellow in the refrigerator.  They quickly grow new leaves and turn from something destined for the compost bin into a useful vegetable.
