Stained purple, thorn slashed, but smug ....
« on: October 10, 2010, 21:38 »
cos I finally got around to some serious blackberry picking today and I've now got 2.5 kilo of them in the freezer :)

That should keep me in apple and blackberry pie for a few months. I do like berries, they're so easy to freeze and so easy to cook from frozen.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

You cant beat that feeling of picking food for free. Real sense of achievment I like to think i'm beating the system if money doesn't change hands, foraging bartering growing your own. etc.

Excellent!  All the blackberry bushes around here are spent now  :( shame as I only got to make one batch of Blackberry Brandy  ::)

Yeuch. Tastes like cough medicine to me, but then so does gin :)

A lot of the bushes here are spent too, but there's still plenty that are good to pick. I was wandering around a 220 acre private estate covered in big mature hedgerows, so there was an awful lot to choose from. I could have happily spent the entire day wandering around picking, and I very nearly did :)
