At last a use for IKEA chest of drawers
« on: May 18, 2010, 22:23 »
I hate IKEA furniture but at last I have convinced the other half to scrap it.  I have now come up with a cunning plan to have a 3 drawer high carrot bed with soil/compost upto the first drawer then fleece over the top do people think it could work?
Time waits for no man and I can't wait for growth.

Nearly all IKEA's products sound like a disease you wouldn't want to catch; some of them had names which had to be changed for use in English-speaking countries!

Are you sure you can put it together?
I doubt it will be very water resistant.

I am growing my carrots in a turned over ikea bookcase this year.  Seems to be working well so far  :)

"Billy" book cases are brilliant. (Must get a couple more.)

"Lack" tables are great and so cheap they are almost disposable.

They do/did a solid wood folding table with a pierced checkered top that is a must for the garden and occasional use.

I have made a totally fabulous work room table with a length of their kitchen wooden strip worktop and two 30cm wide kitchen base units (one cupboard and one draws) as supports.  An utterly terrific, wide and cheap table.

My fish tank is housed in a super wall unit (reinforced with speed frame) and holds all my pressious nick nacks and my TV table has wheels on for easy moving and cleaning.

All their furniture is so simple to put together.  I've never had a problem with any of it and it all goes well with my Canadian maple floors and cotswold stone fireplace.
